Kara (Spicy) Bonda
A simple and easy evening snack can be served during tea time. It takes only short time to prepare spicy(Kara) bonda using wheat and maida. when i felt hungry during tea time i used to prepare this bonda in a short span of time. This bonda is famous in each n every street shops. Prefer an hygienic bonda in your home instead of buying in street shops, Try this recipe and serve for your kids as evening snack.
Ingredients:
- Wheat flour - 1 cup
- Maida flour - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 2 tbsp
- Onion - 2 (medium size chopped)
- Green chillies - 4 no's
- Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
- Ginger - 1 inch(chopped or grated)
- Curry leaves - few finely chopped
- Coriander leaves - few finely chopped
- Cooking soda - 1 pinch
- Red color - 1 pinch (Optional)
- Fennel seeds - 2 tsp
- Salt - As needed.
- Oil - 1 cup (For deep frying)
Method:
- In a bowl , add the wheat flour, maida flour and Rice flour together.
- Add salt and cooking soda and mix together.
- Next , Add all the above ingredients and mix well.
- Add some water to make a thick batter. Let the batter rest for 30min.
- Heat the oil in a kadai, When it is hot , keep it in a low flame. Take a little batter and shape it into a ball and drop it into the oil.
- Fry both sides till golden brown and remove it from the oil using laddle.
- Use a tissue to drain off excess oil and serve hot.
